A Michigan man who is accused of fatally shooting his wife was almost attacked by her son during a court appearance on Monday.  

Vashon Flowers, 46, is charged with murder in the death of Jamie Thomas-Flowers at their Muskegon Heights home, near Grand Rapids last month. 

Courtroom video shows the session about to start when suddenly, London Thomas, Thomas-Flowers’ son, leaps up from his seat and jumps across a barrier.

While Flowers was seated, Thomas-Flowers son, London Thomas jumped over a barrier and sprinted towards him as he ran to attack him

Courtroom cameras captured the moment Thomas leaped over the barrier and ran across 

A number of police officers prevented the Thomas from reaching Flowers and he was soon overpowered and led from the courtroom in handcuffs

It’s alleged that Flowers went to the home on May 19, kicked in the door and shot Thomas-Flowers four times in the torso with a handgun

He then sprints across the room in an effort to attack Flowers, who was in the jury box at the time, speaking with his public defender. 

Thomas never made it to Flowers but he did come within inches before he was dragged by law enforcement.

He then ended up wrestling with several court officials before he was overpowered and knocked to the floor by court officers and arrested.

Within an instant, Thomas leaped over the barrier from the public gallery and ran across the room where he was soon pounced upon by courtroom officers

Court officials and spectators were removed from the courtroom as deputies and officers worked to calm the situation. Flowers also was removed for his own safety.

Thomas ended up appeared in court the following day where he was held in contempt and barred from future proceedings in the case according to Fox News. 

Prosecutors say Flowers kicked in the door to the home on the morning of May 19 and shot Thomas-Flowers four times at close range.  

Flowers, who turned himself in to police later that night, has previous felony convictions including one for assault with a dangerous weapon.

Thomas was forced to the floor and then handcuffed. He is now barred from attending any future court proceedings in the case
